Golden Axe: the animated series announced!

Sega’s flagship series “Golden Axe” will be adapted into a ten episode, animated series greenlit by Comedy Central.
Animated by Titmouse and Produced by CBS Studios in association with Sony Pictures Television and Original Film, the adaptation is being helmed by Joe Chandler known for shows like American Dad with the first episode already co-written by Chandler and Star Trek: Lower Decks writer, Mike McMahan.

The trio is back in action again!

The credits list Haruki Satomi (Sega Sammy president and CEO) along with Shuji Utsumi (Co-President) and Toru Nakahara (Sonic, Streets of Rage, ETC) as executive producers for the show and voice actors: Matthew Rhys as Gillius Thunderhead, Lisa Gilroy as Tyris Flare, Liam McIntyre as Ax Battler, Carl Tart as Chronos “Evil” Lait (Golden Axe 3) and Danny Pudi as Hampton Squib a new character to the series and likely a comic relief.

the ONLY comic relief character that should be in this show.

The original trio alongside Chronos and the newly introduced and inexperienced Hampton Squib will battle to save Yuria from Death Adder who “just won’t seem to stay dead” with the characters described as:
“A grumpy battle dwarf with exceptionally poor hygiene and a chip on his shoulder” (Gillius)
“A fearsome battle sorceress, deadly in a fight and even deadlier with her sharp wit'” (Tyris)
“A barbarian warrior with a strict code of honor and sweet golden retriever demeanor” (Ax Battler) and
“A self-described badass, humanoid panther who is uncomfortably cheesy and can’t read a room.” (Chronos).

In case you didn’t know about this badass panther man from Golden Axe 3!!

From the description of the show so far, it seems to be a comedic take of the series. In my humble opinion this doesn’t sound promising, but we’ll see how it pans out. Maybe it will be entertaining, for better or for worst, either way, we’ll have more info here at Brawlers Avenue!
