Double Dragon Gaiden is back again with another update: another pair of characters has been revealed!
Evil Marian and Super Anubis will be the next two dlc characters, making this the halfway point for the eight dlc characters to drop this year.
Once an ally, now possessed by an unknown force. Cold and distant, she’s not the Marian they knew. She floats above ground and attacks with bursts of psychic energy and violent telekinesis. Her eyes are empty, her voice hollow. Something ancient controls her now.
For those that don’t know, Evil Marian was originally featured in Double Dragon 3 on the NES possessed by the spirit of an ancient Egyptian queen called Princess Noiram. (Totally clever naming scheme there!)
She was also part of the penultimate boss fight alongside Skullmageddon in Double Dragon Neon, where she shoots fireballs during the fight. She would also become possessed shortly in River City Girls 2 (I guess a gal can’t get a break!)
It was long whispered that Anubis was just a fake. A cult leader with no real power. But with the appearance of super Anubis—floating, glowing, and summoning dark forces. One question remains: was he a fraud… Or a prophet all along?
Coupled along with Evil Marian is Super Anubis, the end boss version of Anubis of Double Dragon Gaiden. While it’s speculated that the move set will be based on that version, Super Marian is still anyone’s guess.
Both characters will drop on August 12th, and we’ll be there to cover the action, so stay tuned!
